Unbreakable

jigamoe
A digitally painted portrait of a girl defiantly staring at the viewer, with her hands clutching at her chest. She is made of marble and stone, the cracks running along her face and body is filled in with blue, shiny material.

An ode to the indomitable human spirit.

I was inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with the use of lacquer and gold, a practice which embraces flaws and imperfections.

I wanted to illustrate that philosophy in a way that can be applied to people. To those with the the strength to face adversity, pick up the pieces of themselves, and live on – changed but beautiful nonetheless. Those with an unbreakable will.
